living on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, Australia.

I create mixed media paintings and artwork in my studio

Adults would throw this title at me when I was a child as if it was a bad thing…I was always in touch with the creative side and nature was and still is at the centre of my soul. ✨As the sun melts✨

Sometimes an idea or an image comes together from my minds eye and on to my canvas with ease. It’s heavenly when flowing lines on my draft are gradually replaced with fresh, buttery paint strokes. Yet other times it’s a mad, passionate flurry of colour mixing, a multitude of scattered paint tubes, a bird nest of rejected brushes and a lot of dabbing, consternation and second guessing.
This piece actually started as a ‘blue sky’ study…but sometimes we just need to go where it takes us.
So…I present a melting sun over a dark and glossy ocean, twinkling village lights dot the clifftops, a welcome sight for the weary sailor.

✨🌿Bournda🌿✨

A subtle blend of rich, earthy tones in a fresh, freehand style.

A bit of background around my process in producing this piece.

I had a specific idea and goal when I started this piece. Based around the incredible rock formations around the Sapphire Coast, NSW. Dark red, rusty browns and purple volcanic rock flows that drive up from the beaches and foreshore. Against the sapphire blue water and the crisp white of the crashing waves, it has been a goal of mine to capture this.

When I started this piece, the image in my minds’ eye was clear. This proved to be a frustrating experience as it wasn’t coming together as I wanted. Looking at my progress, it just didn’t look right but further to this, it didn’t feel right.

Lesson learnt, listen to my inner voice and give way to intuitive creativity.

I’m much happier with the final result and it didn’t feel laboured. 🙏🏻 Gratitude to @angemillerart for her encouragement and positivity.

I’ve been away from my creative centre for a number of months.

It has been a place I wanted to ignore as it has been filled with pain and sadness. As such, I found it hard to create being surrounded by a shadow of grief.

With time, I am now seeing sunshine and have mojo and motivation.

I intend to delve into the deep waters of my journey and see what comes through creatively.

Thank goodness for my beautiful, supportive friends, family and clients.
